Meet our team

At Yayasan Widya Guna, we are blessed with a diverse, large and highly qualified team of teachers, interns and volunteers. We’d love you to meet the faces that bring the education of our students to a higher level.

Atun

Greetings, my name is Komang Anggreni, but feel free to call me Atun. I’m currently studying management in the seventh semester. I began assisting in teaching children with special needs at the start of my college journey in 2020, and now I teach in class B. Initially, I could only teach half a day due to my college schedule. While I had no prior experience in teaching children with special needs, I’ve learned over time, thanks to guidance from fellow teachers and our mentor, Mrs. Yuliana. Besides that, my hobbies include listening to music and karaoke.

Dewo

Hello, I’m I Made Merta Winadi, but you can call me Dewo. I started teaching at Yayasan Widya Guna right after graduating from vocational high school. I’m currently studying at State Hindu University, majoring in English Language Education. At Yayasan Widya Guna, I teach English, aligning with my major. Apart from teaching, I have a passion for playing volleyball, badminton, and running.

Dona

Hi there, I’m Ni Gusti Ayu Dona Agustini, S.P., but you can call me Dona. I studied Agriculture at the university, and at Yayasan Widya Guna, I’ve been working as a special needs teacher for three years. I previously volunteered during my college years and now teach as a staff member in class C. Additionally, I assist in organizing the school garden to support the children’s nutrition. I’m passionate about my job, especially when I see the children making great progress. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, sports, and watching movies.

Kacu

Hello! My Balinese name is Ni Kadek Suartini and my nickname is Kacu. I have been attending this school since 2009, first as an English teacher when I was still in elementary school and right now as a special needs teacher and manager for the Bali Charity Café and Shop. I am very grateful to be part of this foundation. Yayasan Widya Guna made it possible for me to have a good education. After elementary school, I went and graduated from Mahasaraswati University with a major in the English Education Program. Although my major and current work may not align, I initially had concerns and lacked experience working with individuals with special needs. I also had doubts about running the café. However, over time, I’ve witnessed remarkable progress among our special needs staff, which fills me with immense pride. I am deeply thankful to all those who have mentored and supported me. Lastly, my hobbies include cooking and listening to music. Thank you!

Ketut Rai

Hello, my name is Ketut Wirmasanthi. I’m commonly known as Ketut Rai at the Yayasan. I graduated in Physiotherapy from one of Bali’s universities, Universitas Dhyana Pura Bali. I enjoy engaging in active activities like sports. I’ve been working at the Yayasan for six years, since completing my studies. Here at the Yayasan, our physiotherapy treatment focuses on making exercises fun rather than strict treatment. This way, the children have a great time during their sessions. I look forward to meeting and having you join us here.

Meet a few of our interns & volunteers

“My two months volunteering at the school where filled with many educational and inspiring experiences. It was amazing to get to know all the wonderful children and working with them was so fun. I want to thanks everyone for welcoming us volunteers so kindly and for teaching us about the Balinese culture. It was truly a time I will never forget.”

“In my role as a Dutch applied psychology student at a school for special needs in Bali, I’ve learned that empathy and understanding are the keys to supporting these exceptional children. Each day brought new challenges, but I discovered the power of individualized approaches and the importance of patience in understanding their unique needs. This experience deepened my passion for the field and made me realize how essential it is to listen to the voices of those less heard. It has shaped me as an empathetic and competent psychologist in training.”
